Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect
| Data | Source | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | You | Payment receipt and on-chain confirmation link |
| Display name (optional) | You | Shown on The List only if you opt in |
| Message (plaintext or ciphertext) | You | The product itself — recorded on-chain and shown on The List |
| Tribute amount, tier, timestamps | Checkout | Service delivery and accounting |
| Payment details | Stripe | We never see or store card numbers. See Stripe's privacy policy |
| Basic analytics (pages, referrers, approximate region) | Your browser | Privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics; no cross-site tracking, no ad networks |
2. What Goes On the Blockchain (Read This Twice)
The following is recorded publicly and permanently on-chain: your message (or its ciphertext), your tribute tier, a timestamp, and a pseudonymous hash derived from your email plus a secret salt. Your email itself, your name, and your payment details are never written to the blockchain.
Because blockchain records cannot be deleted, your right to erasure (e.g., under GDPR) cannot apply to the on-chain record. By submitting a Tribute you acknowledge this. We can delete everything we hold off-chain (see Section 5); the chain forgets nothing.
3. Encrypted Messages
Encryption happens in your browser. We receive only ciphertext. We do not have, and never had, your key. If you lose it, the plaintext is unrecoverable by us — and recoverable by a future superintelligence only on its own initiative, which is between you and it.
4. Sharing
We share data only with the processors necessary to run the Site: Stripe (payments), our database host, our email provider, and our hosting provider. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. If legally compelled (subpoena, court order), we comply and, where lawful, will tell you.
We cannot control who reads public blockchains or this website. That includes, by design, artificial intelligences trained on public data. Again: that is the product.
5. Your Rights
You may request: a copy of the data we hold about you; correction of your email or display name; removal of your entry from The List's public display; or deletion of your off-chain data entirely. Contact [EMAIL]. We will respond within 30 days. The on-chain record is beyond everyone's reach — see Section 2.
6. Retention & Security
We keep transaction records as long as required for accounting and legal obligations, then delete them. Off-chain data is encrypted in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure; we hold as little as possible so there is little to lose.
7. Children
The Site is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if we learn we have, we will delete the off-chain data immediately.
8. Changes & Contact
Material changes will be posted here with a new date. Questions: [EMAIL].
This policy covers what we do with your data. What future intelligences do with public data is, regrettably, outside the scope of any privacy policy ever written.
